Job Description (General Summary)
Intralox, L.L.C., located in Hanover, MD, is seeking a Test Engineer to join our Development team. The Hanover site serves as a hub for innovation in conveyance equipment and supports product releases for customers around the world. The Development team is responsible for advancing new solutions through every stage of the product lifecycle, from early concept through full commercial release. Within this environment, the Test Engineer plays a critical role not only in validating functional performance and robustness, but also in shaping and improving equipment performance throughout development. Success in this role requires a strong foundational understanding of equipment functions to identify opportunities, develop improvement concepts, and influence solutions from both mechanical and controls perspectives. Working in close partnership with mechanical and controls engineers, the Test Engineer helps translate these opportunities into meaningful design and performance advancements. The Test Engineer is expected to provide ownership of the overall vision, strategy, and outcome of performance improvement efforts. In addition, the Test Engineer is responsible for developing efficient, comprehensive test plans and delivering clear, well-documented results that enable the broader engineering team to release equipment capable of long-term success in customer operations. This position will focus on the Activated Roller Belt (ARB) Equipment space.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements
Responsibilities: 
  • Own and coordinate the testing workflow within cross-functional development teams. 
  • Develop, execute, and iterate on test strategies that support product development from concept through commercial release. 
  • Create and execute thorough test plans and document all results in clear, organized reports that can be shared with and understood by team members ranging from engineers to product and account managers. 
  • Execute equipment testing in support of Product Centric Development Teams, Systems Integration, Market Leading Teams, and Design and Engineer to Order Teams (ETO/DTO). 
  • Translate test observations, data, and equipment behavior into practical design recommendations that improve equipment performance and support development decisions. 
  • Take ownership of complex technical problems and drive them toward clear conclusions, next steps, or improvement concepts. 
  • Become a technical and subject matter expert on applicable technologies during the development process to drive innovation and improvement. 
  • Support, develop, and promote modular plastic belting and equipment through application-specific testing. 
  • Provide 2D/3D design support to the design engineering team for new test equipment and product prototypes. 
  • Develop jigs, fixtures, software, and processes that strategically increase testing capabilities and efficiencies. 
  • Review and collaborate with teammates on test plans and test reports. 
  • Document Standard Operating Procedures for standardized tests. 
  • Maintain a database of historical test documentation and results. 
  • Identify and develop AI capabilities to increase efficiency in the Test Engineer workspace. 

Requirements: 
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or similar field. 
  • 3+ years of experience in Engineering role. 
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand equipment function, diagnose performance limitations, and identify improvement opportunities. 
  • Understanding of mechanical systems and willingness to work with hand tools. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to approach issues from both mechanical and controls perspectives. 
  • Comfort working in an ambiguous development environment where test objectives, equipment concepts, and performance targets may evolve over time. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with mechanical, controls, and development teams to influence equipment design and performance outcomes. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Positive, proactive attitude with attention to detail. 
  • Goal-oriented team player. 
  • Excellent computer skills with some exposure to 3D CAD; Inventor preferred. 
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs. 
  • Travel may be required up to 10–20% of the time, including weekend work when needed. 

Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Experience in the conveyor, industrial automation, or product handling industry 
  • Experience using AI-assisted tools to reduce manual, repetitive work, particularly in test video review, data extraction, or data analysis 
  • Experience in a test engineering role  
  • Experience with Python 
  • Experience with BECKHOFF Controls Platform and TwinCAT programming 
  • Experience with MATLAB programming

The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Intralox considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training and key skills. The position is eligible for one of the following: commissions, discretionary incentives, or production incentives according to the terms of those plans

Salary Range $74,300 to $174,300.
