Intralox, L.L.C., the world leader in conveyor equipment solutions utilizing modular plastic conveyor belts, has a position available for Supervisor of our Equipment Technical Writers in our Hanover, MD office.

This supervisor will report to the Technical Communications Group Supervisor and manage the portion of the group dedicated to our equipment platform. The discrete piece of equipment (DPE) technical writers create and manage the technical documentation for the DPE section of the business. This documentation includes user manuals, technical service bulletins, supplemental information, knowledge topics, etc.


  • Provide day-to-day support and manage the work of the DPE Technical Writers.
  • Conduct staff performance reviews and help ensure career development of Technical Writers.
  • Negotiate scope and requirements for publications by participating with engineering and sales teams in the development of schedules to address product roadmap requirements, resulting in execution plans with clearly defined milestones.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with functional groups to ensure documentation requirements are proactively determined and factored into business developments.
  • Establish and maintain documentation schedules and priorities.
  • Work with engineering and R&D staff to understand components and systems to develop user-friendly documentation.
  • Determine resource requirements and allocate resources appropriately, identifying project execution risks, and providing solutions in the event of resource changes or emergent issues.
  • Identify gaps and develop systems to facilitate efficient project processes.
  • Help support the team in the standardization of documentation types and best practices.


  • B.S. or B.A. in communications, journalism, technical writing, science, or engineering.
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in technical writing based on engineering drawings, technical information from engineering documentation, consultations with engineers and subject matter experts, and other available sources.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in managing a team of professionals.
  • Solid knowledge and experience in project management, planning, and resource allocation.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills.
  • Experience with proven results in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Well versed in change introduction processes.
  • Proficient with multiple mediums of technical communication such as manuals, videos, animations, and web pages.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite, Adobe InDesign, and XML Editors. 
  • Ability to build effective relationships with engineering groups and leadership.
  • Self-managed individual who is a team player.
  • Strong time management, attention to detail and organization skills.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Willing and able to travel up to 10% and overtime when required.


  • Previous experience in a manufacturing industry.
  • Experience working in Component Content Management Systems (CCMS).
  • Familiarity with DITA and XML authoring.
