Laitram Machinery has a need for a Shrimp Processing Technician to properly set up processing equipment to ensure continuous operation, make repairs and perform preventative maintenance.

Responsibilities:

  • Control equipment regulating product flow to effectively process materials
  • Accurately record statistical process control data
  • Properly set up processing equipment and ensure continuous operation
  • Diagnose malfunctions, make repairs and perform preventative and corrective maintenance
  • Fabricate and assemble new equipment, including electrical and plumbing
  • Maintain plant and consumables inventory
  • Receive and prepare shipments, organize WIP inventory and keep organized records
  • Operate appropriate material handling equipment such as forklift, pallet jacks, tote dumpers in a safe and orderly manner
  • Safely handle chemicals with PPE and management of SDS paperwork
  • Perform housekeeping and cleaning tasks
  • Contribute ideas to continuously improve accuracy and efficiency of the facility

Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, schematics, control panels and low and high voltage
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Able to work shifts starting at 5am
  • Must be fluent in both written and spoken English
  • Logical thinker with efficient troubleshooting skills
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Understanding of safe work practices and proper handling of tools, electricity, etc.
  • Self-managed and organized
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Good people and communication skills
  • Must be able to perform the essential job requirements identified in the Functional Job Description for this position, including the ability to lift and move 50 lbs

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience operating seafood processing equipment
  • Technical education background
  • HACCP certification
  • Sanitation control procedure training
  • Forklift certification
