Intralox is currently seeking a mechanical design engineer for our New Product Development Team to work out of our New Orleans office.  This individual will be primarily responsible for contributing to the development of new products by creating methods, tools, and equipment devised to evaluate the performance of prototype and production designs.

Responsibilities
  • Involvement in the complete equipment development process from problem definition to customer acceptance for both internally and externally sourced designs including:
    • Research to determine the desired performance requirements 
    • Development of specifications and the measurable evaluation methods to assess success
    • Ideation of initial design concepts
    • Design reviews and brainstorming sessions
    • Test plans to evaluate the performance of materials, components, and systems
    • Detailed CAD models and drawings of equipment designs
    • Specification and ordering of components
    • Design and implementation of machine control and data acquisition systems
    • Assemble, troubleshoot, and qualify new equipment
    • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair existing test equipment
    • Train and assist users on the operation of test equipment
    • Basic project management (develop and maintain project scope, task lists, timelines)
  • Collaborate with in-house patent attorney on filing patents for new concepts including drafting/proofing claims and drawings
  • Communicate and interface with team members, representatives from other departments, and internal customers regarding problem/opportunity definitions, project scope, and project status 
  • Evaluate mechanical and electromechanical components and systems by applying principles of general physics, mechanics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, vibration, acoustics, and material science in accordance with mechanical engineering standards and design formulas

Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
  • Recent professional experience in Solid Modeling (SolidWorks, Pro-E, Inventor, or similar software)
  • 5+ years engineering experience (preferred in Product Development, Machine Design, Test Equipment Design, etc.)
