Laitram Machine Shop a division of Laitram, L.L.C., is seeking a Production/Planning Scheduler. The Scheduler will direct and coordinate Production Planning for the division and will manage and expedite the flow of work and materials within and between work centers as well as other external operations. Additionally, the Scheduler serves as a backup function to other members in the Office Value Stream including Planning, Order Processing, and Procurement.  The position reports to the General Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop the Shop’s production schedule across two (2) shifts
  • Communicate the production schedule across the Shop order flow
  • Monitor progress towards order completion dates; identify improvements and recovery plans, when necessary
  • Manage buffers within the schedule
  • Analyze customer order patterns to inform business decisions 
  • Understand production capabilities and constraints
  • Model capacity relative to demand; highlight need to increase capacity
  • Improve capacity planning, scheduling, and order data entry
  • Work daily with other team members of the Production Control Office Value Stream to address resource and schedule constraints

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business or other relevant course of study
  • 2+ years’ experience as a Scheduler or Production Planner in a manufacturing company
  • Worked within an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) environment (e.g., Oracle)
  • Proven structured approach to problem solving and planning
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Business Suite

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced computer and spreadsheet capabilities (e.g., Visual Basic for Application, macro coding)
