Laitram L.L.C. Information Technology Services Department has an opening for a Network Engineer, reporting to the IT Design & Delivery Manager. The primary responsibilities for this position include the design, implementation, and escalated support of our Global LAN/WAN environment.
The successful candidate will have an understanding and enthusiasm to adapt our network for the demands of remote working, and continued proliferation of internet-connected devices in our global manufacturing facilities.

Responsibilities:
- Design, implement and provide 3rd level support for various global systems, including, but not limited to:
- Global MPLS Network
- Global Routing Protocols (EIGRP, BGP, etc.)
- Cisco based LAN/WLAN/WAN environment
- Cisco Nexus 7K, 5K and 2K
- Fortinet FortiGate (NGFW)
- Site-to-Site VPN/Remote access VPN
- Operational Technology (OT) at our global manufacturing facilities
- Load Balancing, CASB, Web Filtering, etc.
- Participate in projects intended to continually optimize our Network Infrastructure
- Identify opportunities and recommend solutions for improving service efficiency and effectiveness with a focus on business use-cases
- Maintain effective communication with business-users and team members around design decisions, and implementation statuses and timelines
- Author technical installation, configuration, and support documentation
- Collaborate with peers on the Network team and as a member of the larger Infrastructure team
- Perform planned system changes and upgrades with minimal impact to business operations which may require after hours or weekend work
Requirements:
- B. S. in Computer Science, MIS, or related field; or 7+ years of related work experience
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an infrastructure environment
- Experience scoping and sequencing IT related projects
- Self-managed; ability to work well independently and in a global team environment
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize assigned work according to business need and priorities
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to perform root cause analysis
- Local to New Orleans, Baltimore, or Dallas
