Intralox L.L.C., the world leader in conveyor equipment solutions utilizing modular plastic conveyor belts, has a position available for a Mechanical Engineering Technician. As the Mechanical Engineering Technician, you will be the tasked with problem solving and troubleshooting assembly issues, and the main channel between assembly and other departments for resolving issues. The chosen candidate will need to be able to interface with every department as well as management. To excel in this role, applicants should demonstrate great ability to respond, diagnose, and resolve multiple production issues simultaneously while communicating relevant information with all stakeholders.

  • Perform regular assessments on incoming materials from vendors and outgoing products for shipping.
  • Read engineering drawings, plans, and specifications to understand the requirements of parts/products and services.
  • Measure product dimensions, trouble-shoot functionality, and compare the final product to the specifications.
  • Respond, diagnose, and resolve issues on the shop floor. 
  • Resolve production-related issues with a sense of urgency and in a timely manner.
  • Encourage an environment of teamwork and convey the concepts of the Laitram Business Philosophy with the department.
  • Communicates with the Quality Team on Quality issues such as vendor non-conformances.
  • Works cross functionally with internal and external teams/contacts to solve problems and determine root cause to resolution. 
  • Recommends improvements to the production process to ensure quality control.
  • Awareness and ability to teach the production team about quality control, production methods and concerns to improve product excellence.
  • Assess production performance and develop plans, processes, and metrics to improve performance.
  • Will be assigned medium to large sized projects to accomplish independently. 
  • Will work closely with and assist Quality or Manufacturing associates to complete projects
  • Relies on and creates work instructions and establishes guidelines to perform the functions of the job
  • Self-Managed and able to be productive with minimal guidance. 
  • Good attitude in stressful situations.
  • Investigate material flow issues.


  • A High school diploma or GED equivalent 
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience problem solving and troubleshooting assembly issues.
  • Hands on experience with mechanical systems and strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access).
  • Excellent math and technical skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and project management skills.
  • Understanding of quality control standards and testing techniques.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and under the pressure of deadlines.
  • Possess a strong attention to detail.
  • Willing to work overtime and on weekends as required.
  • Willing and able to perform a variety of tasks in support of short- and long-term goals of the Manufacturing division.
  • Travel to vendors and customer sites, overnight stay may be required.
  • Functional knowledge of statistics.
  • Able to lift 50lbs.

Desired Qualifications: 

  • An associate’s degree in a technical or quantitative field, or higher.
  • Experience in an equipment engineer-to-order and assemble-to-order manufacturing environment.
  • Possess an industry certification that demonstrates mechanical aptitude or problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in a mass production inspection environment.
  • Knowledge of best practices in a Manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using measuring devices.
