Intralox is hiring for a Materials Specialist to work in the New Product Development department.  The ideal candidate for this position will be able to continuously accelerate customer value and differentiate competitively within materials capabilities, as well as optimize throughput to discover and drive the knowledge of new materials.

Responsibilities


Support the development of new products by:

  • Understanding product requirements through researching project specifications and conducting in-person interviews with design team members based on project needs.
  • Creating and documenting performance specifications for new polymers based on new product problem definitions.
  • Researching polymer options that meet the required performance specifications.
  • Collaborating and maintaining relationships with material suppliers and R&D teams to identify polymer options.
  • Recommending candidate materials for performance testing with vendors.
  • Coordinating with outside labs to evaluate material properties.
  • Developing test plans and conducting in-house tests to evaluate material performance.
  • Documenting polymer research and test results
Resolve polymer related issues with existing products including:
  • Reviewing product complaints to determine if the issues are polymer related.
  • Researching new materials that will resolve current issues.
  • Analyzing polymer issues related to chemical and environmental compatibility.
  • Developing test plans and conducting tests to evaluate chemical and environmental compatibility.
  • Coordinating tests with outside labs to assess polymer related issues.
  • Interpreting results of lab tests.
  • Recommending options to resolve polymer related issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Proven track record of R&D, new compound applications, etc.
  • 3+ years of experience
  • Ability to connect and network inside the collaborator accounts.
  • Industrial experience and applications (food, automotive).
  • Must be a self-managed, hard -working, self-motivated individual.
  • Must function well in a group structure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience documenting laboratory procedure and test results
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Develop proficiency in operating and developing experimental procedures on a wide array of analytical equipment.

Desired Qualifications

  • Ideal experience level (10+ years of plastics, applications development)
  • Combination of Mechanical and Chemical Degrees
  • Live in New Orleans area
