As the Machine Shop Manager you will be responsible for all aspects of the department’s 90-person operation including strategy and planning, customer support and service, capability and capacity assessments, and throughput and performance monitors. He/she will ensure that the operations consistently meet customer expectations for delivery, quality, and value.

Laitram Machine Shop provides high value machining, fabrication, and assembly services and supports new product development through technical expertise and rapid turnaround to the Laitram divisions.

Responsibilities:

• Oversees team of seven (7) direct reports and eighty-three (83) indirect reports who coordinate shop activities in our facility to create maximum efficiency and quality on the manufacturing floor.

• Analyze workflow, identifying constraints, and making process improvements as appropriate.

• Responsible for hiring, development and coaching of team members.

• Ensures that the Laitram Business Philosophy and Continuous Improvement Program are implemented throughout the division.

• Ensures all employees are following safety policies, PPE protocol and procedures

Requirements:

• Undergraduate degree

• Exceptional organizational, interpersonal and communication skills

• 10+ years’ experience in a management position or professional field with proven success developing and executing business plans, resource management, directing people, and managing service levels

• Management experience including team development, group problem solving and performance planning and reviews

• Mechanical or technical aptitude

• Experience implementing Quality Management and Continuous Improvement Systems

• Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning, Project Management, capacity management or other similar management systems

Desired Qualifications:

• Graduate level training in business or engineering

• Knowledge of manufacturing and production technologies, machining methods and tools

• Experience with production scheduling and reporting

• Familiarity with Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Manufacturing software
