Laitram L.L.C. Information Technology Services Department has an opening for a Network Engineer, reporting to the IT Project Design & Delivery Manager. The primary responsibilities for this position include the ongoing design, implementation, and escalated support of our Global LAN/WAN environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement and provide 3rd level support for various global systems, including, but not limited to:
    • Global MPLS Network
    • Global Routing Protocols (EIGRP, BGP, etc.)
    • Cisco based LAN/ WAN environment 
    • Operational Technology (OT) at our global facilities
    • Cisco Nexus 7K, 5K and 2K
    • Fortinet FortiGate (NGFW)
    • Avi Load Balancer
    • Microsoft Cloud App Security (CASB)
  • Participate in projects intended to continually optimize our Network Infrastructure 
  • Identify opportunities and recommend solutions for improving service efficiency and effectiveness with a focus on business use-cases. 
  • Maintain effective communication with business-users and team members around design decisions, and implementation statuses and timelines. 
  • Author technical installation, configuration, and support documentation. 
  • Perform planned system changes and upgrades with minimal impact to business operations which may require after hours or weekend work. 

Requirements:

  • B. S. in Computer Science, MIS or related field or related experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in network engineering. 
  • Proficient in designing, implementing and supporting Cisco LAN/WAN environment. 
  • Experience scoping and sequencing IT related projects. 
  • Self-managed; ability to work well alone and in a global team environment 
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize assigned work according to business need and priorities
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to perform root cause analysis
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
