We are seeking an IT Systems Administrator who will maintain, administer, and support the computer networks across the Laitram companies. This includes configuration, installation, documentation, troubleshooting and decommissioning of network equipment.

The ideal candidate will be curious and tenacious in troubleshooting and root cause analysis. They will work collaboratively within IT and with the business to maintain the technology which supports key functions for our fast-paced manufacturing teams. 

This position will report to the IT Infrastructure Supervisor under the IT Operations structure.

Responsibilities:
  • Proactively identify network issues and solutions to solve them
  • Configure and install various network devices and services (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, etc.)
  • Procuring network equipment and managing ISP subcontractors with network installations.
  • Monitor performance and ensure system availability, reliability, and capacity planning.
  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.
  • Assist with the engineering, scheduling, and management of system rollouts ensuring they meet firm standards for integration, usability, and security.
  • Understand and recommend solutions such as replacement/upgrade of existing hardware, software, applications, self-help guides, process improvements, knowledge base, etc. to enhance services and eliminate incidents.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and standard operating procedures to assist with system usage, configuration procedures, and standard operation manuals.
  • Further develop technical skills by proactively seeking to expand knowledge and skills through formal and informal training.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support for critical systems.
  • Display professional conduct with internal and external team members, and valued partners.

Requirements:
  • The ideal applicant should have a bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or 3 years of experience in a related field.
  • In-depth experience with Fortinet and Cisco IOS, including configuration, troubleshooting, and management of Cisco network devices.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to perform troubleshooting in a technically diverse environment.
  • Minimum of 3 years of industry experience in Network and Systems Administration.
  • Experience with TCP/IP networks from Layer 1 through Layer 3, from IP addressing and naming (DHCP, DNS, subnetting, VLAN) through security, along with related software tools for monitoring and management.
  • Organizational, documentation, and time management skills able to prioritize work and meet competing deadlines.
  • Proactive self-starter with professional maturity, confidence, and a strong sense of ownership, accountability, and follow-through.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills able to convey technical information to individuals of various levels of technical comprehension.
