We are seeking an IT Architect who will lead in information architecture around our SharePoint Online ecosystem, including Teams, OneDrive, and our company’s intranet. This role involves conducting interviews with business stakeholders, analyzing current business processes and information structures, and designing secure, scalable, flexible, and user-friendly solutions that align with Microsoft and industry best practices.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in information architecture, business analysis, and the relevant Microsoft product line.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct interviews to understand business requirements, information assets and structure, and associated workflows.
  • Develop a comprehensive information architecture standard that includes when to use SharePoint Online sites, Teams, document libraries, folders, lists, columns, and metadata.
  • Set principles around SPO Forms, Power Apps, or when a non-Microsoft solution is a better option.
  • Make decisions on how to handle unique permissions, audience targeting, and sensitivity labels.
  • Establish long-term governance for SharePoint Online and major solutions like our Intranet; oversee costs, 3rd party integrations, and the technology lifecycle from Microsoft.
  • Champion the platform; help train and communicate new features and best practices to employees.
  • Work within cross-functional teams of project managers, business analysts, architects, engineers, developers, and administrators to provide expertise in the planning and design of related technology initiatives.
  • Stay aligned with other teams who are also working in the Microsoft ecosystem: BI team with Power BI, D365 team with Dataverse and PowerApps, Identity team with Entra ID, and Compute/Storage team with Azure.
  • Create architecture documentation, like design diagrams, to support decisions and capture as-is and future states.

Requirements:
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, library science, information systems, or a related study (or equivalent project-related experience)
  • Proven experience focused on information architecture and/or architecting SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive
  • Strong understanding of business needs and the ability to translate them into technical requirements
  • Proven ability to help in organizing and sequencing business and IT-created initiatives
  • Business acumen, and the ability to effectively communicate with executives, business stakeholders and technical staff alike
  • Proven experience designing and maintaining a company’s intranet
  • Proven ability to create intuitive and user-friendly navigation and hub/site/page layouts
  • Proven ability to tailor technology governance and product adoption to business needs
  • Expertise in SharePoint Online including site and document library management, permissions structuring, and sensitivity labels
