Laitram, L.L.C., is seeking an HVAC Maintenance Lead to join the Corporate Facilities Management and Engineering Department at our Harahan campus.  Under minimal supervision, may perform and / or lead a crew of technicians or contractor employees performing a variety of operational projects and technical services in one or more skilled areas including HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, central plant.

  • Provides work direction, orientation, training, and work review/inspection to assigned personnel.
  • Performs maintenance and troubleshoots assigned equipment.
  • Provides project or job estimates.
  • Provides direction and works from drawings, schematics, blueprints, job layouts or verbal instructions.
  • Ensures appropriate maintenance documentation is completed.
  • Provides audit reports of performance levels to management as requested.
  • Schedules personnel to meet workflow demand.
  • Make recommendations regarding equipment installation, repair, replacement, or maintenance.
  • Requisitions material.
  • May be required to be on call 24/7 to provide telephone assistance as well as emergency response to the facility.
  • Ensures compliance to all city, state, and federal license and certification requirements.
  • Verify personnel perform work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  •  Performs other duties as required.


  • Technical degree, certificate or license required and/or extensive work experience in facility maintenance.
  • Ten or more years’ experience in Mechanical, Electrical, or HVAC.
  • Experienced with central plant operations, systems, and equipment.
  • Extensive knowledge of Building Automation Systems (BAS).
  • Working knowledge of personal computers.
  • Excellent problem solving, organizational and communications skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate the activities of others.
  • Must be physically able to perform maintenance tasks which includes ability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, lift heavy objects weighing up to 50 lbs., etc.
