Industrial Microwave Systems has an opening for a Fabricator/Welder to assist in their North Carolina facility.

  • Read and interpret specifications and blue prints
  • Perform simple to highly complex fitting and welding assignments according to blue prints and layout specifications
  • Set up and operate shop equipment including press brake, shear, rolls, etc.
  • Gather materials, set up welding equipment
  • Lay-out, measure, position, align, and fit into place
  • Perform GMAW/GTAW welding in all positions on various alloys of stainless steel, aluminum and steel
  • Build and use jigs and fixtures
  • Check and inspect welds according to specifications
  • Perform general housekeeping/clean up in assigned area
  • Some overnight travel maybe required
  • Perform preventative maintenance on various equipment
  • Other duties as assigned


  • High School diploma, GED Equivalent, or Vocational School diploma
  • AWS welding certified or comparable.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to read and follow structural, sheet metal and welding drawings
  • Must be able to set up and operate GMAW/GTAW equipment
  • Ability to work in and maintain a safe work environment
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using units of US currency, weight, measurement, volume, and distance
  • Knowledge of all equipment and tools necessary to perform the duties required of a fabricator/welder
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment to move and align materials
  • Must be able to inspect finished welds to meet Quality Standards
  • Must be able to lift and move 50 lbs.

Desire Qualifications

  • Experience working with the following equipment: MIG and TIG welding equipment, plasma cutting equipment, measuring tools, burning equipment, material handling equipment, saws, and other fabrication equipment
  • Candidates will be required to pass a written fitter assessment and practical fitting/welding test
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to train and mentor others
