Electrical Drafter/Designer must have familiarity with Industry standards with a variety of the field concepts, best practices, and procedures. Candidates will be expected to use experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, perform a variety of complicated tasks, and have a wide degree of creativity.

Position Description: 

 

Working at our facility in Hanover, MD the Electrical Drafter provides routine drafting support on a variety of projects.  Activities include the preparation of various drawings and schematics derived from specifications such a layouts and sketches.  Assists in the production of detailed schematics with electrical control panel layouts. The selected candidate will work on a team and report to a senior team member or Engineer.

 

Position Responsibilities: 

·       Creates, initializes, and modifies the following: 

o   3D control panel assemblies with Autodesk Inventor.

o   Electrical Schematics with AutoCAD Electrical.

o   2D Electrical Panels with AutoCAD Electrical

·       Maintain Bill of Material information in all drawing packages. 

·       Create hard copies of drawing packages, wire labels, and engraved tags. 

·       Project Management duties include: 

o   Completion of Drawings to a deadline. 

o   Releasing Bills of Material for procurement and manufacturing. 

o   Following revision and change request processes. 

·       Design and develop layouts for electrical circuits or systems.

·       Check quality of 3D control panel assemblies. 

·       Check quality of electrical schematics and 2D panels drawings. 

·       Coordinate and consult with Engineers and other technical designers to complete projects.  

·       Utilize established techniques, standards, and tools to prepare technical drawings.  

 

Position Requirements: 

·       High school diploma or equivalent  

·       Minimum 2+ years’ experience in drafting and manufacturing electrical design. 

·       Proficient with 3D and 2D CAD Packages. 

·       Proficient with MS Office, specifically Excel. 

·       Experience or familiarity in 2D AutoCAD or 2D AutoCAD Electrical. 

·       Basic understanding of electrical procedures.

·       Knowledge of electrical equipment, construction, and regulatory codes.  

·       Ability to read and understand manufacturer’s drawings and manuals.  

·       Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

·       Takes initiative to learn about technology and improve processes. 

·       Strong written and verbal communication skills.

·       Ability to build effective relationships with Engineers, customers, subcontractors, and suppliers.

·       A self-managed individual who is a team player.  

·       Ability to travel (less than 10%), work weekends, holidays and overtime when required. 

·       Must have ability to work with a computer and design visual artifacts

 

Preferred Skills: 

·       Experience in AutoDesk Inventor or Dassault Solidworks 

·       Experience in Dassault EPDM, Autodesk Vault or PTC Windchill PLM. 

·       General Knowledge of IEC, NFPA 70, NFPA 79, and UL508A electrical standards.

·       Lite Power and Controls Circuit Engineering. 

·       General knowledge of electrical systems, PLCs, and/or networking. 

·       Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment.
