Laitram, LLC has an opening for a Corporate Counsel in Legal and Risk Management.     This individual will learn and assist with the Company’s legal and risk management function by working at the direction and under the supervision of General Counsel.  This position is responsible for providing transactional and advice support needed by the different businesses.   In addition, the Corporate Counsel will have a full spectrum of legal, regulatory and other risk management work as assigned by General Counsel and related to proactive as well as reactive Department initiatives.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform research, review and draft agreements for departments and business needs
  • Provide guidance on risk to the different businesses when needed while working closely with the General Counsel on global risk management
  • Work on matters that could include real estate leases and transactions, commercial agreements, commercial litigation support, and technology or other business transactions
  • Support commercial terms review, including for the company’s equipment businesses, and develop expertise in regulatory areas most relevant to the businesses
  • Advise and communicate with business partners on global legal, regulatory, and risk management matters
  • Lead department and cross-functional initiatives
  • Manage outside legal counsel, including in non-U.S. jurisdictions
  • Conduct all work with a high level of integrity

Requirements:
  • Juris Doctorate required with demonstrated high achievement in law school
  • Ten or more years of legal experience post law school with focus on commercial litigation, transactional work and/or regulatory advice
  • Strong knowledge of business law and corporate procedures
  • High aptitude for and enjoyment in writing and logical reasoning
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office Suite (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Positive attitude, with attention to detail in work
  • Self-managed and proactive
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Highly introspective and dedicated to continuous learning and improvement

Desired:
  • Three or more years of corporate counsel experience
  • Demonstrated love of learning and thriving in a team environment
