Controls Technician - Spiral
Intralox L.L.C has an opening for a Controls Engineer to work in the rapidly growing Optimization Services Group. This posted position pertains to providing controls support for projects utilizing various spiral technologies across many industries as well as material and packaging handling technologies.
This position would be responsible for the electrical control system implementation in our spiral solutions, programming PLC's, troubleshooting, and/or installations. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected in day-to-day work. This role does require substantial travel and must have a strong mechanical aptitude with industrial electrical controls experience, including knowledge of control panels and control panel/ field components. The position will be remote but with proximity to a major airport.
This role does require substantial travel. We are accepting applications across Europe due to the travel requirements for this position.
Responsibilities:
- Implement innovative controls for our latest spiral technologies
- Improve programming for a variety of PLC's utilized in Intralox spiral solutions
- Collaborate with colleagues and support customers
- Push yourself to remain on the cutting edge of Controls capability and be a leader in your field of expertise.
- Own the electrical portion of Intralox spiral solutions from concept engineering through customer implementation.
- Manage and direct on-site (in plant) installation and commissioning of spiral control systems in conjunction with equipment installations or leads project commissioning and troubleshooting of field installations.
- Create documentation and training materials for all potential users including but not limited to Intralox engineers, customers, suppliers, and subcontractors
- Provide remote or on-site (in plant) troubleshooting and auditing of control systems
- Create reports and communications to team members and/or customers on knowledge gained from troubleshoots, audits or commissioning.
- Interface with a global team of like-minded professionals
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- A.S./A.A. in electrical/electronic field or a minimum of 2 years of technician experience in industrial control environment.
- Ability to independently install, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical/ electrical control systems.
- Proficient in configuring PLC's, HIM's computers, networks, cameras, motors, and variable frequency drives which are used in spiral equipment.
- Knowledge of electrical safety standards.
- Proficient in AutoCad Lt for control circuit development or similar experience
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to read and understand manufacturer’s manuals to “self-teach” new technology.
- Ability to create and edit electrical documentation information and detailed service reports.
- Lead training, troubleshooting, and repair/ adjustment of mechanical and electrical control systems.
- Work with Engineering Group and perform factory acceptance tests of finished equipment.
- Effective communication (verbal and written) and relationship skills with engineering, customers, vendors and contractors.
- Ability and willingness to travel (both domestic and international) and perform field service (50% - 60%); work weekends and holidays and overtime when required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and climb ladders.
- Must be self-managed and a team player.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with control circuitry and PLC systems.
- Experience with high voltage power circuitry.
- Experience with the Installation & Programming of Allen Bradley Powerflex Drives
- Experience programming in Rockwell Logix500 and Logix5000 processors using RsLogix500 and Studio 5000 programming software
