The Electrical and Controls Technician must have familiarity with industrial electrical and automation control systems. The technician will work and interface daily with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), PACs (Programmable Automation Controllers), and supporting peripheral devices including but not limited to power supplies, sensors, pneumatics, VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), and induction motors. Candidate will support various tasks in a production assembly environment such as commissioning, system setup, quality checks, and performance validation.

Responsibilities:
• Load PLC and other software applications for Automation Controller devices
• Validate software and hardware is functioning correctly
• Perform IO checkouts while following quality checklists and other work instructions
• Support commissioning and the setup of electrical control systems for assembly operations
• Communicate and work directly with multi-disciplinary engineering teams
• Read, interpret, and update electrical schematics and networking layouts
• As necessary, participate with electrical panel assembly from schematics
• Support troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical issues and propose solutions
• Provide input on documentation, process, and training to support continuous improvement efforts
• Assist in testing and evaluation of new technology
• Assess production performance and develop plans, processes, and metrics to improve performance
• Will be assigned medium to large sized projects to accomplish independently.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area
• Good attitude in stressful situations

Requirements:
• Minimum 2 years’ experience dealing with electro-mechanical systems
• High School diploma or GED equivalent for this role.
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude
• Ability to understand and work from electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
• Capable of troubleshooting electromechanical equipment – use of hand tools (multi-meter, wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.)
• Ability to problem solve
• Able to work in MS office 365 and other cloud base computer environments
• Ability to install software to Automation Controllers and configure parameters
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Self-managed individual who is a team player
• Willing and able to work overtime and weekends as needed
• Able to safely work and stand for extended periods of time, well beyond an 8-hour workday
• Ability to perform the essential functions of this position as detailed in the functional job description, including the requirement to lift and carry 50 pounds and push/pull 75 lbs
• Ability to work in a variety of climates (from no A/C to walk in Freezers) on customer sites as required
• Ability to travel to customer locations (up to 10% of the year)

Desired Qualifications:
• Education / Training in a technical field (2-year associate degree preferred)
• Possess an industry certification that demonstrates mechanical aptitude or problem-solving skills
• Rockwell Studio 5000 and Siemens TIA Portal software experience
• Experience with VFD’s – Allen Bradley and SEW
• Understanding of different fieldbus and communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, Profibus, and Profinet
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and or AutoCAD Electrical
• Understanding of NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 79, and UL508A standards are regulations
• Ability to understand PLC programming (ladder logic and structured text)
