Intralox, L.L.C. is looking for an experienced Controls Engineer for the ARB GLOBAL DESIGN TEAM.  This individual will be designated as a Lead Product Engineer (LPE) of Gapping solutions.

The LPE will work across many different teams and will report to an engineering supervisor. The LPE will also be designated as a subject matter expert or SME in relation to Intralox’s gapping products, solutions, and applications. The LPE’s primary focus will be overseeing gapping solutions for the entire product life cycle.   


  • Works under immediate supervision of senior team members.
  • Must Follow all defined instructions and pre-established guidelines
  • Produces technical documentation that can be tailored to different audiences.
  • Designs in CAD electrical control panel layouts, bills of materials and schematics.
  • Estimate costs and create budgets per project or proposal scope.
  • Performs impact analysis on proposed changes.
  • Develop Software for mechatronic control systems that includes GUIs and configured networks. 
  • Responsible for the installation and technical support of electrical hardware and software.  This includes supporting Mechanical and Electrical Field installers.
  • Assists with tier 2/3 support and troubleshooting of installed systems.
  • Assists with the creation and teaching of associated training.
  • Perform System Audits and verify that actual work matches all documentation to ensure high quality.


  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or like equivalent from an accredited Institution.
  • 4+ years of related experiences.
  • Has knowledge of commonly-used controls engineering concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to understand and work from electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Ability to understand manufacturer data sheets and apply them in practice.
  • Ability to configure PLC’s, HMI’s, computers, networks, cameras, and variable frequency drives which are used to control sorters, conveyors, and other related equipment.
  • Ability to understand and write source code using IEC 61131-3 programming languages (primarily Ladder Diagram and Structured Text)
  • Experience with at least one of the following PLC and HMI development environments:
    • Rockwell Automation Studio 5000 Logix Designer and FactoryTalk View Studio/Optix
    • Siemens TIA Portal and WinCC
    • Beckhoff TwinCAT
  • Ability to develop electrical documentation packages, descriptions of operations, interfaces between systems.
  • Ability to architect and configure an IEEE 802.3 Ethernet network.    
  • Effective communication (verbal and written) and relationship skills with engineering groups, customers, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • A self-managed individual who is a team player.
  • Ability to travel, work weekends, holidays and overtime when required (average estimation is 30% per year).
  • Ability to be at customer facilities during startups, upgrades, or validations to coordinate and help resolve issues.
  • Position located at Intralox offices in Baltimore, Maryland.
  • Must pass drug screening and background check.
  • Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds and climb ladders occasionally.
  • Must have the ability to work in noisy, cold, and hot industrial environments occasionally.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with any of the following programming languages:
    • Matlab and Matlab Simulink  
    • Python, C/C++, Java, or similar
  • Experience developing software for Motion Applications
  • Experience with any of the following VFDs:
    • AB PowerFlex 35E,525, 527, and 755 
    • Siemens G120
    • SEW Movimot, Movigear, Movi-C
  • Worked with the following Fieldbuses and communication protocols:
    • Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT, and Profinet
  • Experience using Simulation and Digital Twin tools for software development.
  • Proficiency in Visio, AutoCAD Electrical, and AutoDesk Inventor. 
  • Familiar with the PTC Windchill PLM environment and Oracle ERP
  • Deep understanding of NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 79, and UL508A Standards and regulations.
