Responsibilities

  • As a key member of this department, the lead person will be responsible for the following:
  • Coordinate activities of Assembly & Deburring personnel in support of completing day to day operational objectives
  • Sets up and runs laser marking equipment to meet customer requirements & production needs
  • Verifies inventory items are available for upcoming assembly jobs, works with inventory personnel to have items available as needed
  • Stays informed of active shop orders - setup, run times, delays and addresses issues timely
  • Works with scheduling to ensure manufacturing dates are met and addresses lead capacity with scheduling
  • Works with other leads to balance shop demand -vs- team demand
  • Ensure best practices are followed within the team
  • Promotes good safety and housekeeping practices
  • Reviews and approves process change requests and/or routing updates
  • Works with the department team to resolve quality issues
  • Completes quality corrective actions, maintenance requests and documents standard operating procedures
  • Coordinates training in department for new or existing employees
  • Works with team to resolve time keeping and quantity transactional errors
  • Promotes the Laitram Business Philosophy and encourages continuous improvement
  • Exhibit and promotes teamwork and self-management
  • Contributing team member for production
  • Provides work instruction, review of processes and first part inspection
  • Creates/Completes pre-determined cycle counts for all departments, works closely with direct supervisor and material management for continuous improvement and system maintenance
  • Conducts Laitram Continuous Improvement reviews and team meetings
  • Work a flexible schedule as needed to meet customer demand
  • Follow the attendance policy of the department

Requirements

  • High school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent
  • Stable work experience in a production environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well with others in a team-oriented environment
  • Possess a strong attention to detail
  • Able to work under the pressure of deadlines
  • Must be willing and able to perform a variety of tasks in support of short and long-term department goals
  • Must meet physical job description - Ability to perform the essential functions of this position as detailed in the functional job description, including the requirement to lift and carry 50 pounds

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in a supervisory or lead person position.
  • Previous assembling experience
  • Previous production environment preferred
  • Familiar with Geometrical Dimensioning &Tolerancing concepts, complex drawings, and manual Coordinate Measuring Machines
