Responsibilities

  • Specialist in global Food Contact Material (FCM) regulations including but not limited to FDA, EU, China, and Japan.
  • Create and communicate customer facing scientific and regulatory information to address global FCM safety.
  • Partner with cross-functional business teams (Commercial, Procurement, and Global R&D) to provide stewardship and governance on FCM regulations and safety.
  • Provide FCM subject matter expertise to New Product Engineering to enable solutions to scientific and regulatory issues. Act as a scientific steward and consultant by preparing responses to targeted questions from the field, business units, and customers. This includes acting as a resource for general information and becoming a consultant, mentor and trainer for other technical personnel within Laitram.
  • Monitor regulatory development, identify potential risks, implement strategies and policies in response to new safety and regulatory questions on FCMs.
  • Participate in external organizations related to FCMs to influence outcomes and advance our scientific and regulatory strategies.
  • Partner with team involved in Incident Management and Crisis Resolution processes.

Requirements

  • MS in chemistry, biology, public health, toxicology, chemical engineering, or other relevant disciplines.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in industry or consulting. 
  • High level of competence in understanding and applying key global, US and state (FCM) regulations.
  • Strong technical skills using Microsoft Office, Access, or similar data management tools.
  • Familiarity with Oracle Teleservice and CRM (preferred)
  • Strong team leadership experience and commitment to team dynamics with the ability to contribute expertise.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and maintain flexibility, while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Excellent collaboration, and problem resolution skills to drive root cause determination and effect change.
  • Travel requirement approximately 10%-20%
