Laitram L.L.C. is seeking an innovative and self-directed person to join our multi-functional Product Stewardship team at the Intralox, Harahan office.  Reporting to the Product Stewardship Manager, you will be responsible for providing subject matter expertise globally for chemical compatibility and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Works within cross-functional teams to manage New Material Memorandums and author Safety Data Sheets
  • Interprets chemical suppliers’ product composition data
  • Performs risk assessments on how chemical products affect our finished products
  • Manages risk assessment information and classification criteria to support new and existing products with internal and external customers
  • Reads, interprets, and communicates global product compliance regulations
  • Creates and formats regulatory documents
  • Understands voluntary certification rules set out by government and 3rd party organizations including, but not limited to 3ADairy, NSF, Kosher, and Halal
  • Researches vendor information, internal systems and various government on-line sites to gather and compile information in response to customer inquiries
  • Represents our company on external trade groups and teams to support business objectives
  • Works within cross-functional teams to investigate external customer complaints and drives to root cause. 
  • Documents results of the investigations and assists with post mortem incident review
  • Assists and implements updates using multiple computer platforms.
Requirements
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Biology, Chemistry or other science discipline. College mathematics is required.
  • Practical knowledge of organic and inorganic chemistry
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in industry
  • Must be able to extract and analyze data
  • Strong desire to achieve internal and external customer satisfaction
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate well verbally with internal and external customers. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to make educated judgments on correctness, accuracy, and appropriateness of information
  • The ability to prioritize and make decisions quickly for the best interest of the company.
  • Must be able to create and maintain systems for keeping up on details on multiple projects
  • Continually demonstrate a strong attention to detail, careful execution of tasks, and regularly check work before submitting
  • Self-managed.  Able to complete tasks independently
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Good interpersonal & negotiation skills
  • Computer literacy with Oracle and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to research and interpret regulations
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Able to handle multiple work interruptions and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Able to participate in cross functional teams with minimal supervision
  • Ability to travel up to 10% with the possibility of international travel.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bilingual in Spanish or Portuguese
  • College statistics
  • Knowledge of Oracle, NOETIX, SharePoint
