Intralox is currently seeking a New Product Development Engineer to work out of our New Orleans office, with some flexibility on in-office time. In the design-centered position you will work to develop new ideas into physical products that enable our customers to ensure the security of our food supply. Innovative concepts, materials, and manufacturing processes are required to increase customer throughput while reducing the risk of foreign material contamination (FMC).

Responsibilities: 
  • Own the outcome throughout the entire new product development process, from problem definition to product release including:  
    • Voice of Customer (VOC) activities to ensure engineering specifications are understood. 
    • Bring innovative design ideas to life. 
      • High focus on patentable concepts that bring customer value (in-house patent attorney collaboration).
      • Sense of urgency to explore, validate, and, when appropriate, fail fast. 
    • Development of virtual, 3-D printed, and other physical prototypes.
      • Numerous 3-D Printers, Laitram Machine Shop, and an extensive external vendor network to leverage.  
    • In-house and field testing (physical and simulation-based). 
  • New Products Engineering has an impact on every aspect of our business so you will work across teams throughout the process to ensure successful product launches into the market.  
  • Focus on development of products for Food Industries. 
    • Hygienic Design and Materials.  
    • Integration with our Commercial Food Sanitation Company. 
    • Customer Interactions to validate product design choices.  

Requirements: 
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering degree.  
  • Solid modeling experience in Creo, SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar software.  
  • A self-managed individual who excels in a team environment.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills to simplify communication across teams and customers without sacrificing technical accuracy or taking short cuts that sacrifice quality. 
  • Hands-on approach to problem solving – Proactive use of company resources to help reach conclusions about new product designs.   
  • 5+ years’ experience in Product Development or related engineering field desired.
