Laitram L.L.C. Information Technology Services Department has an opening for an IT Telephony Engineer, reporting to the IT Infrastructure Manager. The primary responsibilities for this position include the ongoing design, installation and support of our Global Cisco Collaboration System.

This person will be a member of the IT Communications team and help with the migration from Avaya to Cisco VoIP.

  • Design, implement and provide 3rd level support for various global systems, including, but not limited to:
    • Cisco Collaboration Suite (Webex, Jabber, Unity Connection, Attendant Console, Communications Manager, UCCE)
    • Cisco based LAN/WAN environment and server architectures using the latest technology.
    • Global MPLS Network
    • VMWare Infrastructure
    • Cisco UCS B-Series & C-Series Servers
  • Participate/lead projects intended to continually improve/upgrade Telephony and Communication Infrastructures
  • Identify opportunities and recommend solutions for improving service efficiency and effectiveness with a focus on the business.
  • Author technical installation, configuration and support documentation.
  • Maintain effective communication with business-users and team members.
  • Perform planned system changes and upgrades with minimal impact to business operations which may require after hours or weekend work.
  • Work collaboratively with vendors and contractors to provide innovative business solutions.
  • Global travel opportunities as business needs require.
  • Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation.


  • B. S. in Computer Science, MIS or related field or minimum of 5 years of related experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in network/telephony engineering and systems administration.
  • Proficient in designing, implementing and supporting Cisco Unified Communications Manager and LAN/WAN environments.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Works well in a team environment.
  • Ability to operate with minimal supervision.
