Laitram L.L.C. Information Technology Services Department has an opening for a System Engineer (Operational Technology (OT)) reporting to the IT Project Design & Delivery Manager.  This individual will be well-versed in the foundational IT infrastructure pieces (network, compute, storage, security) that are the building blocks of OT solutions in our global manufacturing facilities.

The successful candidate will have the understanding and enthusiasm to lead in the continued proliferation of internet-connected devices in our facilities.  This individual will also be able to act as a consultant with our business teams as we develop customer-facing OT solutions.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and deliver OT solutions for our global manufacturing facilities that solve business problems and adhere to our OT standards 
  • Co-develop, maintain, and socialize infrastructure, security, and business continuity standards for the OT domain
  • Support OT access management with the IT Identity & Access Management (IAM) Team
  • Support system hardening, including patching, threat scanning, and system configuration management with the IT Security Team
  • Support network segmentation and firewall rule creation/modification with the IT Infrastructure (Network) Team
  • Participate in projects with the IT Infrastructure teams that impact the OT domain
  • Maintain effective communication with business-users and team members around design decisions, and implementation statuses and timelines
  • Author technical installation, configuration, and support documentation

Requirements:
  • B. S. in Computer Science, MIS or related field; or 5+ years of related work experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an OT and/or Infrastructure environment
  • Experience with industrial control systems (ICS), and underlying technologies
  • Ability to work with vendors to ensure the right design of OT solutions and their ongoing support
  • Inquisitive and forward looking; general understanding of digital twins, Industry 4.0, and integration into manufacturing execution systems (MES)
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize assigned work according to business need and priorities
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to perform root cause analysis
  • Self-managed; ability to work well independently and in a global team environment
  • Business acumen, and the ability to communicate to business domain stakeholders and technical staff alike
