Intralox Equipment Manufacturing Engineering manager will collaborate with various internal teams to assist and resolve business needs and problems respectively. The Engineering Manager will be responsible to set team goals, KPIs and individual goals to progress business initiatives forward. The Equipment Manufacturing Engineering Manager will report to functional manager, Equipment Manufacturing Engineering Manager.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Equipment engineering team responsible for defining the manufacturing process for our innovative conveyance solutions.
  • Help team members succeed in their roles and guide their personal development.
  • Encourage an environment of teamwork and convey the concepts of the Laitram Business Philosophy within the team.
  • Inspire and instill the highest of standards in our engineering designs. Ensure error-free solutions.
  • Participate in strategic and business planning activities. Set team Vision, Mission and Goals and execute it with the team.
  • Performs management functions of employees such as hiring, terminations, creating indicants, employee reviews and compensation decisions.
  • Facilitate and lead continuous improvement efforts that improves efficiency and quality in assembly.
  • Collaborate with our Operations and Engineering teams to improve products which directly will improve internal productivity and bring more value to our customers.
  • Work closely with our Production Control, Materials Management, Assembly, Testing and Quality Teams to provide accurate, on-time, and complete solutions. Coordinate with engineering and operations teams to ensure to ensure consistent deliverables.
  • Guide and develop our Engineers so they can continue to design the industrial transportation systems of the future.
  • Performs a variety of complicated project/program related planning and management tasks
  • Uses Software such as MS Office Project, Word, and Excel, AutoCAD and ORACLE ebusiness suite to accomplish job responsibilities.
  • Has knowledge of detailed commonly used project management and supervision concepts practices and procedures.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Leadership capabilities. Ability to set/adopt a vision and then execute it with a team.
  • Outstanding people skills with ability to communicate effectively with multiple departments across various skill sets and time zones. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • At least 2 years as an Engineering Team Lead, Supervisor or Manager with experience managing a team including interviewing, hiring, firing, developing personnel etc.
  • Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in mechanical design and/or process engineering
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with fabrication and assembly methods and ability to apply design for manufacturing and assembly principles.
  • A lean manufacturing mindset and desire to improve
  • Proficient at creating detailed part, weldment, assembly, and installation drawings.
  • Proficient with using measuring devices, tools, and reading and understanding electrical schematics, P&ID, and mechanical drawings.
  • Strong mechanical and analytical abilities
  • Travel required (5%) for equipment installation, start-up or troubleshooting often taking place on weekends and holidays to meet customer scheduling requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with TSSC (Toyota Production System)
  • Six Sigma training
  • Industrial machine design, conveyor equipment design experience.
  • Autodesk Inventor experience, especially in sheet metal design.
  • Familiarity with using Windchill PLM
  • AutoCAD experience especially related to plant layouts
  • Familiarity with OSHA, NEC, IBC and ANSI / ASME specifications as they relate to conveyor system design
  • Familiarity with industry standard project management frameworks and methodologies such as Agile, Waterfall and Scrum
