Laitram, L.L.C., is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join the Corporate Facilities Management and Engineering Department team on our Harahan campus.  Reporting to Director of Facilities, this position will review plans of electrical equipment such as electronic systems, low/medium voltage systems, switchgear, transformers, emergency power systems, control systems, and all associated power needs in manufacturing facilities, injection molding plants, office buildings, central utility plant and related structures.

  • Oversees and coordinates the design and development of the utility master plan for the campus, including the periodic updating of the master plan.
  • Initiates utility plant related capital projects to address deficient systems.  
  • Leads planning and implementation of critical infrastructure networks for data center and central utility plant.
  • Assists project management and maintenance staff in troubleshooting and problem analysis of building and plant electrical systems.
  • Actively promotes and seeks to increase energy efficiency and sustainability for campus facilities.
  • Coordinates with internal and external customers to perform regulatory reviews.
  • Inspects the electrical systems on construction projects via site inspections. Tests electrical, mechanical, and electronic equipment and systems in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Makes calculations and sizes equipment taking into consideration the facility's needs. Review specifications, architectural plans, and building codes to gather supplementary data on which to base designs and coordinates with architects, civil and mechanical engineers to avoid interference and ensure proper integration of systems.
  • Reviews drawings, cost estimates, design analyses, plans and specifications submitted by private firms to ensure compliance with standards and applicable State and Federal codes.
  • Conducts energy conservation investigations and initiates follow up projects.
  • Documents all electrical systems changes using AutoCAD or Revit.


  • B.S. or M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, licensed in Louisiana preferred.
  • 7+ more years of electrical engineering experience in manufacturing or campus utility plant or industrial process environment
  • Experience required in the following areas: SKM electrical network modeling software; coordination studies; short circuit analysis, arc flash energy analysis; programmable logic controllers; HMI and machine control systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Experience with productivity tools, e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
