Laitram, LLC has an opening for a Corporate Counsel in Legal and Risk Management. This individual will learn and assist with the Company’s legal and risk management function by working at the direction and under the supervision of General Counsel. This position is responsible for providing transactional and advice support needed by the different businesses. In addition, the Corporate Counsel will have a full spectrum of legal, regulatory, and other risk management work as assigned by General Counsel and related to proactive as well as reactive Department initiatives.

  • Perform research, review and draft agreements for departments and business needs.
  • Provide accurate legal guidance to the different businesses when needed while working closely with the General Counsel.
  • Draft and negotiate all types of business agreements, including real estate leases and transactions, customer, or vendor agreements, and technology or other transaction agreements.
  • Support commercial terms review and develop expertise in regulatory areas most relevant to the businesses.
  • Advise and communicate with business partners on legal, regulatory, and risk management matters.
  • Develop over time to lead department and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Manage outside legal counsel when necessary for the business. 
  • Conduct work with a high level of integrity and responsibility.

  • Juris Doctorate required with demonstrated high achievement in law school.
  • 5-7 years of legal experience minimum post law school with focus on commercial law, transactional work and/or regulatory advice.
  • Strong knowledge of business law and corporate procedures.
  • High desire and aptitude for writing and logical reasoning.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office Suite (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point.).
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated love of learning and thriving in a team environment.
  • Non-legal business and in-house counsel experience considered a plus.
