Laitram Machine Shop, L.L.C. currently has a CAD/CAM programming position available.


This individual will be primarily responsible for programming jobs for our CNC machines, developing and supporting programming best practices, using toolpath verification software to ensure “first part/good part”, research tooling, model work holding, and machines for use in our CAM and verification software.  Additionally, this individual will be required to drive Design for Manufacturability and part costing discussions.  


As a valuable member of our Programming team, this individual will participate in various team based and individual efforts to integrate best-in-class manufacturing processes within the shop.

Responsibilities
  • Create new, modify, update existing, or optimize CNC programs using Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) for Milling, and Multi-axis machines
  • Validate programs using a CAM validation program for CNC Machines
  • Model machines, work holding, and tooling for use in CAM and verification software
  • Interface with customers to integrate customer requirements with Design for Manufacturability
  • Stay current with and integrate the use of the latest in machining and machine tool technologies
  • Serve as project lead to facilitate the implementation and sustentation of new technologies, best practices, machine acquisition, tool acquisition, and LEAN manufacturing principles

Requirements

  • High School degree or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience programming using MasterCam
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience setting up and operating 3,4th, or 5th axis machines
  • Strong knowledge of machining processes such as turning, milling, drilling, tapping
  • Demonstrated Project Management experience
  • Demonstrated part costing experience
  • A self managed individual who excels in a team environment
  • Strong technical and analytical skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluent in trigonometry and geometry
  • Strong knowledge in Geometric Dimensioning Tolerance (GD&T) is needed
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications and general computer
  • Must be able to work overtime on an as needed bases

Desired Qualifications

  • Engineering Degree or equivalent
  • Experience working with Solid Works and Vericut software
  • Create new or modify existing post processors for CNC machines
  • Experience working within a Job Shop environment
  • Mold Making skill and qualifications
