Lapeyre Stair, Inc, is seeking a highly motivated and self-managed person to serve as Buyer in its Purchasing Department. This position will support the management of purchasing transactions for inventory ang non-inventory items. The position is based in our Harahan, LA facility and reports to the Purchasing Manager.

  • Support the management of purchasing transactions, including purchase orders, for inventory and non-inventory items for 2 locations.
  • Manage supplier and inventory item information within our MAPICS system.
  • Analyze procurement categories identifying product trends, spending patterns, and areas of performance improvements. 
  • Assist in the development of our supply base through assisting in supplier selection, monitoring supplier performance, and building supplier relationships.
  • Assist in the creation of Suppliers within the Oracle environment.
  • Work with Accounts Payable on correction of any invoice/receiving transactions.
  • Work with Inventory/Receiving personnel to insure no out of stock issues.
  • Manage Employee purchases and Uniform distribution.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Primary backup for invoicing and order entry in MAPICS and Lotus Notes.
  • Primary backup for Time and Attendance for Production personnel.


  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience with MAPICS and Oracle Purchasing.
  • Minimum 5 years procurement experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be a self-managed, hard-working, self-motivated individual.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
