Lapeyre Stair, L.L.C. Quality Department has an opening for a Assembly Lead in our Waggamen location. 

Lapeyre Stair constructs precision built metal stair systems using a state-of-the-art engineering and manufacturing system. The Lapeyre Stair product line includes Alternating Tread stairs, Steel Egress stairs (welded and bolted) as well as crossover systems, exit and intermediate platforms, and safety gates. As a key member of our organization, the lead person will be responsible for the following:

  • Coordinate activities of Assembly & Deburring personnel in support of completing day to day operational objectives 
  • Stays informed of active shop orders - setup, run times, delays and addresses issues timely
  • Works with scheduling to ensure manufacturing dates are met and addresses lead capacity with scheduling
  • Works with other leads to balance shop demand -vs- team demand
  • Ensure best practices are followed within the team
  • Promotes good safety and housekeeping practices
  • Reviews and approves process change requests and routing updates
  • Works with the team to resolve quality issues
  • Completes quality corrective actions, maintenance requests and process documentation
  • Coordinates new employee training
  • Promotes the Laitram Business Philosophy and encourages continuous improvement
  • Exhibit teamwork and self-management
  • Contributing team member for production in their area
  • Provides work instruction, review of processes and part inspection
  • Creates/Completes pre-determined cycle counts for all departments, works closely with direct supervisor and material management for continuous improvement and system maintenance
  • Conducts LCI and team meetings
  • Work overtime, weekends, and on-call hours as required
  • Follow the attendance policy of the department


  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience in a production environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well with others in a team-oriented environment
  • Possess a strong attention to detail
  • Able to work under the pressure of deadlines
  • Must be willing and able to perform a variety of tasks in support of short and long-term department goals
  • Must be able to perform the essential job requirements identified in the Functional Job Description for this position, including the ability to lift and move 50 lbs

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in a supervisory or lead person position.
  • Previous steel manufacturing experience
  • Experience welding structural steel
